A very novel way to protest! (I had to read the posters note to see what the protest was about, I don’t watch news or read papers at all.)
I wonder if it was any more effective than the last protest?

Nice. Reminds me of Reclaim Love. ^-^ <3
@trace: I get the feeling it was much more effective than the last, even if it is seemingly unapparent for now.
@Sally: Thanks for that link, it looks cool! I will check it out further.
@tortugo23 S’okay. I kept meaning to get to the event myself but never made it for a variety of reasons. Hopefully it still happens and I can get to it in future.
How can we make any totally valid protest actually bloody count? (There are so fecking many of them!) who is gonna take any notice? Do these petitions actually get to the person who makes that particular decision, does that person know what the f**k they are doing in the first place? When the decisions in this world are made by people who are either after the financial gain through popularity/any other means available, power to do what they personally think they should,(for whatever selfish and egotistical reason they think is important,) or else perhaps ….just total stupidity. I would honestly love to know what you folks think about this stuff.
And this is at least partly the quantum path in this case. Against my will, (in the next room) I have been subjected to someone else’s tv, blaring out and telling me that I need to contribute in order to help all these children who don’t have enough to eat, or clean water to drink. Blah blah blah, and the reason for the forced tv audio? I have been staying at my mothers for 9 weeks so far, I was summoned there by a neighbour, about the middle of December, because she seemed to be weak and breathless. I called the ambulance at 2am…. so eventually……my mother was taken to hospital. She is 86. It’s been somewhat tricky for me, not only has she driven me utterly crazy, but I also can’t be in several places at once…. (not in this particular form at least.)
(It was rather amusing that just before I came home for the weekend, my spirit dolly, (Ronnie) went weak at the hocks and fell over.) 😀
Anyway…..I was very amused to hear what someone said, (I think it may have been on facebook…. ) they said …what would be a good idea is to put the elderly in prison and put the inmates in care homes. (Even I ….insert sheep @anton …..didn’t need to really think much about the practicalities of that.) 😀
Really makes me wonder about about the boundaries between (so- called) law and chaos. Har har! Hope you folks will excuse me for now…..looking after my mum for that long has probably done something to my body and mind far far worse than any drug/alcohol/’taboo’ etc.
I’m reasonably sure I will recover eventually….when (if) I manage to get home to stay next week.
In the meantime, thank you everyone for taking my mind off the smaller picture.

I see Trace started to get political after all
@trace I hope that your life gets better soon. Thanks for popping in and letting us know you are still alive.
‘How can we make any totally valid protest actually bloody count?’ If we participate and spread the word we can make it count. From the context of you message I conclude that you are exposed to mainstream media and TV. Generally they promote a false idea that protesting doesn’t work. It is not true at all. I am not involved in street protests much but I do a lot of online activism such as writing letters to politicians and CEO’s, signing petitions, donating money and spreading the word. Over the few years I see a huge success rates. I can not provide you with valuable statistics but amount of success is overwhelming and it seems like activism gets more and more effective every day.
Perhaps I am overly optimistic, but I consider current global trend towards authoritarianism as a sign that those in power are loosing control. They see it and do all they can to fight back, it seems. I believe we have a chance to really change thing for the better.
To answer your question from more magickal perspective, if you want a protest to count use magick to support it. We do this for Chelsea Manning and so far we get amazing results.
Agreed. Protests work. Online activism works. So many business and political decisions have been reversed because of push back from protests, petitions and other forms of activism. For better and for worse. We can’t give up, because those campaigning for hate and ignorance will not.

Thank you, @sally and @dana, I needed to be riminded of that, rite enuff. Only this morning I have been reminding someone else not to give up, for very similar reasons, I even suggested that he may find it a lot easier if he stopped watching, reading, listening to the bloody news for a month or more. Which answers your assumption about mainstream media tv, (or … any other media for that matter,) I have not subjected myself to any of that utter bilge for many many years. 😀
However….. I’ll consider myself thoroughly ‘wrist smacked’. Quite rightly so as well!
I should bloody remember, that every action, thought, majik etc in this direction will ‘always’ make a difference.
I’m back home to stay now, (so far,) so maybe I’ll now have a chance to recover myself a little.
Kissing protest! Great! a while back my friends organsied a dancing march during one of the protests. My friend was carrying a big banner with the words- “if can’t dance it’s not my revolution” on it. i agree we need to organise a new way of protesting- make it more fun, more chaotic, more surprising. Another new is a silent protest where protesters stand in place in total silence. I attach a picture from Turkey.
